Toronto, ON – Congratulations to Martin House of Corner Brook, NB for winning $1,000,000 from the February 21, 2015 LOTTO 6/49 draw.
Martin House of Corner Brook has been making plans on how he will spend the $5-million jackpot from the Feb. 21 LOTTO 6/49 draw.
Martin was helping staff lock up the bar at his hotel in the wee hours following the Feb. 21 draw when someone mentioned that the winning ticket for the LOTTO 6/49 draw was sold in Corner Brook. After a long day Martin simply slept on the information.
“I had tickets, but they were out in my truck tucked in the sun visor. I didn’t go out to get them until the next morning,” Martin laughed. “I had purchased $20 worth of tickets plus I had won a free ticket, and it was the free play ticket that was worth $5-million.”
It has been a busy few weeks for Martin, making business and personal decisions. His children, who will share in his win, were excited to hear their dad’s news. He shared his plans with them last week.
“I texted my daughter who was on a snowmobile trip and tried to give her a few hints,” Martin laughed. “She didn’t catch on at first that I won, but when I asked her if she could do the happy dance, she knew exactly what was going on. We have been practicing the happy dance every day since!”
Corner Brook now has some real estate available! Martin plans to sell his remaining business, The Corner Brook Hotel, and to retire. He loves to travel and has plans for a return trip to both Australia and Hawaii.
The winning ticket was sold at Valley Variety and Convenience, Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador. The retailer will receive a one percent seller’s prize.
This win is the second LOTTO 6/49 major prize awarded to a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador this week. On Wednesday Jay Griffin of Paradise, Newfoundland and Labrador, took home a cheque for $1-million.
