Grandma’s Early Christmas Present – $50 million!

Thornhill Grandma Susan Flam takes home the big cheque.

Susan Flam suddenly has many more things to celebrate this Christmas – $50 million more.

The 64-year old mother of three and grandmother of five realised she had became Lotto Max’s Dec. 21 jackpot winner after she scanned her ticket on Saturday.

The self-described homemaker said she stopped with her husband at a Sobey’s in Innisfil, Ont. to pick up groceries when she decided to check two of her lottery tickets at the customer service desk.

With her glasses on, Flam said she couldn’t read the numbers properly – mistaking them for $50,000.

Flam accepted her prize today, in the company of her husband and close friends, in Toronto at the OLG headquarters, where she was presented with her cheque.

Even though she is very excited and grateful, Flam says what is truly important is health and happiness.

“Money isn’t important,” she said. “This is a very wonderful gift we’ve been given, but I’m not an extravagant person. As long as I know everyone is well, that’s what matters to me.”
