Toronto, ON – Centre-du-Québec resident Françoise Mailhot, from the town of Sainte‑Cécile‑de‑Lévrard, pocketed the $1,000,000 Guaranteed Prize at the June 1 draw of Lotto 6/49. She graciously accepted to share her experience during a press function this Tuesday at the Salon de jeux de Trois-Rivières.
While at the store after a day at work, Ms. Mailhot had her ticket validated by the clerk. When she saw all the zeros on the display, she asked the clerk if she also saw the same thing on the terminal screen. The clerk asked the butcher to come check the ticket as well. He confirmed what they suspected; she had won a million dollars! Everyone was happy for the winner, who was in a state of shock! Ms. Mailhot went home to announce the big news to her spouse, but he didn’t believe her. She ran into more disbelief when she went to see her daughter, but her son-in-law was so stunned that he had to hold his head up with his hands! The lucky winner will be meeting with a financial advisor in order to make the best decisions possible. She will be buying her husband a new truck and trading in the family camper for a bigger one that can accommodate more people.
“When the Ms. Mailhot called Loto-Québec to tell us she was the winner of the Lotto 6/49 Guaranteed Prize that we were waiting for, I could hear the excitement in her voice. During our conversation, I could tell she was smiling and I could feel her joy. At times like this, I can’t help but smile on the other end of the line, realizing that I truly love my job!,” said Marie-Josée Laplante, at Loto-Québec’s customer service department.
This winning ticket was purchased at Marché Trottier, 175 Rang Saint-Antoine, Sainte-Sophie-de-Lévrard, QC
