Toronto, ON – Happy Anniversary to Cathay and Bryan Silverthorne of Sarnia who will celebrate 51 years of wedded bliss next month, as brand new millionaires! Cathay and Bryan won the $5 million LOTTO 6/49 jackpot from the November 11, 2015 draw.
“I was still asleep when Bryan sat down on the bed next to me and quietly asked me to give him a hug. I sat up suddenly, thinking there was something wrong. That’s when he turned to me and whispered, we’re millionaires – we just won $5 million dollars,” explained Cathay while she and Bryan were at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto where they picked up their winnings.
“We figured if we have to come to Toronto we might as well do it in style so we took a limo all the way from Sarnia and it’s waiting to take us back home too,” said Bryan.
Bryan checked his ticket online first then went to the store to be absolutely certain. “No one knows except our daughter but I guess that’s about to change,” he joked.
The couple has two children, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. They are excited to share their windfall with family. They also plan to spoil themselves. “I would love a brand new SUV and Bryan keeps insisting he wants a yellow jeep,” laughed Cathay. “He can have whatever he wants.”
Future plans include a train trip across Canada, maybe a trip to the east coast and a big home renovation. “This whole experience has been surreal and definitely life changing,” smiled Bryan.
The winning ticket was purchased at Greer’s Variety and Lottery Centre on Indian Road in Sarnia.by
